Some might find it strange that a fatherhood program would take an interest in domestic violence awareness. We don’t think it’s strange at all because we understand that domestic violence is not a women’s problem… it’s everyone’s problem. It is difficult for people to address because of the shame and regret attached to it, because family members are conditioned to be secretive and make excuses, and because society as a whole has normalized the ideology that women are less important than men.
These are barriers that are difficult but not impossible to overcome. Awareness is the key component but along with that, we have to take action. That is why we started this Domestic Violence Awareness Fundraiser. We say “Not On My Watch” because we refuse to allow this false ideology to go unchallenged. These are our mothers, sisters, and daughters, and they should be treated with the same respect given to our fathers, brother, and sons.
A portion of the funds raised will be donated to a selected domestic violence shelter to help with resources for women and children. And, a portion of the funds raised will be donated to a domestic violence education program for men, to help them learn about equality and nonviolent alternatives.
If you consider this a worthy cause and are willing to stand with us and say “Not On My Watch,” then make a tax deductible donation. Any amount will be appreciated! If you donate $25.00 or more, we will send you a purple domestic violence t-shirt with our Not On My Watch logo. Thank you so much!
